Traffic Management Plan for Newbridge for the 30/6/18

Traffic Management Plan - The Dubai Duty Free Derby 2018 on Saturday 30th June 2018.

Stiles Open at 11:30hrs

Last Race at 18:00hrs.  Curragh Race Course, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Implemented by Gardai from 11:00hrs.  

Traffic Management: 

The following traffic arrangements will be in place for Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at Curragh Racecourse on Saturday 30th June 2018, commencing at 11:00hrs

Travel Routes:

All traffic attending are advised to use the following routes.

Traffic from the M1, N2, N3 and N4 will travel via the M50 to the N7 (Dublin / Limerick Road). Traffic will travel from the N7 (Exit 12) onto Ballymany Roundabouts from there to Curragh Racecourse.

Traffic from the South East (N9, N78, N80, and M9) can travel via the Carlow or Athy routes through Kilcullen to Newbridge onto Ballymany Roundabouts from there to Curragh Racecourse. 

Traffic from the South / South West can travel via the N8, N7, M7 turning off at Newbridge exit (Exit 12 or Exit 13) follow direction signage to Curragh Racecourse.

Traffic travelling from South East can travel via the N81 (Tullow / Blessington Rd) through Ballymore Eustace (R411) to Kilcullen onto Newbridge and then follow direction signage to Curragh Racecourse.

All priority junctions will be manned by Gardaí.

Traffic Entry / Exit:

All traffic entering the racecourse will do so via the following routes:

Traffic off the south and north bound motorway will receive priority through the Ballymany Roundabouts. Subject to traffic volumes, which will be monitored by two (2) Garda Motorcyclists, assigned patrols on the motorway.

If traffic volumes dictate, and following review by sector supervisors a one-way system may be implemented. This involves the use of both lanes approaching the main roundabout adjacent to the race course entrance from the Ballymany Roundabouts. The implantation of the one-way system will be communicated through the Garda Event coordinator to his counterpart from the Curragh management team. All traffic from Ballymany Roundabouts will drive in two lanes, under Garda control, to the respective gates where they will enter the event site.  The one-way system will remain in force until peak traffic flows enter the event site. 

Only race traffic will be allowed on Old Kildare Road to Ballymany, this is achieved by Gardai on point duty outside Chapman’s Garage, Newbridge Road, Kildare Town, diverting non-race going traffic onto the Curragh where they are diverted around the Curragh Camp and have access to Newbridge at Lumville Cross. These diversions are controlled by Gardai.

All horse boxes and horse transporters will be directed to the Main Gate where they will access the event site and Stable Block area.

All Buses and Taxis will be directed to the Bus/ Taxi ~Drop Off area where they will access the event site and set down area.

A one-way traffic system shall only operate through the peak periods immediately prior and after the event. This one-way system will operate under the direct control of the Garda management on site.

When or if the one-way system is put into place before racing all traffic EXITING the racecourse will be directed to and exit the area around the back of the race course to Moorefield GAA Bridge, and further diverted through Pollardstown re-joining the Stand House road near Mr Dermot Welds Yard and into Newbridge where they may continue their journey.

Parking Arrangements: 

Car and Bus Parking will be provided on site and is free of any charge. All Parking Areas will be designated and Sign Posted to aid all patron’s entry and exit to / from the venue.

Parking / Towing Vehicles:

No parking of vehicles will be permitted on any of the approach routes to racecourse on the day of the event.  Parking restrictions will be in place on roads leading to the event site.  Vehicles found breaching the restrictions will be towed away and towing charges will be incurred in such cases.

Taxi / Coach Drop Off:

All taxis and shuttle coaches dropping off will be directed from their approach routes through onto the Main Avenue where they will be granted access to the designated Taxi Drop Off site. Here they can drop off fares and then exit the area via the back roads to Newbridge.  Taxis will not be allowed further into the Event site unless they are dropping disabled persons.

Taxi / Car Pick Up: 

All taxis and coaches picking up must be on site at the designated site at least 45 minutes prior to the last race where they can pick up fares and then exit the area via the back road route to Newbridge.  

Access to the site will be permitted only up to the introduction if necessary of the one-way traffic system. 

  

Traffic Management Plan- Kildare V Mayo All Ireland Football Qualifier Throw in at 19:00hrs. Implemented by Gardaí from 17:30hrs,

All Match traffic attending are advised to use the following routes:

Any traffic travelling from the M1, N2, N3 and N4 can travel via the M50 to the N7 (Dublin / Limerick Road). Traffic will travel from the N7 (Exit 12) onto Ballymany Roundabouts from there to designated parking under direction of Gardai on Point Duty. 

Any traffic travelling from the South East (N9, N78, N80, and M9) are advised to travel via the Carlow or Athy routes through Kilcullen to Newbridge onto Ballymany roundabouts from there to designated parking.  

Any traffic travelling from the South / South West are advised to travel via the N8, N7, M7 turning off at Newbridge exit (Exit 12) from there follow Garda direction to designated parking. 

Any traffic travelling from travelling from South East are advised to travel via the N81 (Tullow / Blessington Rd) through Ballymore Eustace (R411) to Kilcullen onto Newbridge and the follow direction signage to designated parking. 

Any match going traffic approaching Newbridge from the West and North of County Kildare, are advised to enter Newbridge along the (R445 Naas road) will be diverted into free parking spaces at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, or Newbridge College Sports grounds (an 8-minutes’ walk from the grounds) under direction of Gardai on point duty.  

Local Parking Arrangements for Kildare V Mayo Match fixture:

The car park adjacent to St Conleths Park will be closed to parking on Saturday the 29.06.2018. This car park will be used as pre-ticket checking area, and containment area. Parking within the immediate area of St Conleths Park is limited in public areas.

Parking is Strictly prohibited on Liffey View, and Liffey Terrace Road Newbridge, (In use as a sterile Emergency Route).  

Parking on Footpaths along Athgarvan Road is prohibited.

Parking on the footpath where such parking obstructs the free movement of pedestrians is prohibited and offenders will be prosecuted and towed away if necessary.

Parking is available at the following locations:

•           Pfizer Pharmaceuticals (400 spaces) Accessed from Naas Road entrance under direction from AGS

•           White water Shopping Centre (1700 spaces) Accessed from Industrial Road entrance (Across from Newbridge Silverware) under direction from AGS

•           Newbridge College sports grounds (400 spaces) accessed from Naas Road entrance under direction from An Garda Síochána.
