Irish Open 2023

The Horizon Irish Open will take place in The K Club, Straffan, Co. Kildare from 6th of September to Sunday, 10th September, 2023.

A detail Garda traffic management plan will be in place to ensure that those attending can go to and from the event safely with minimal disruption or delay, and local residents are not affected by traffic more than is necessary.

Getting to the K Club by car

  • A free Park and Ride facility will be available to those travelling by car to the event
  • There will be no parking at The K Club
  • Please follow all motorway signage and AA signage en route.

Travelling by public transport

Those coming from Dublin will have access to buses and trains. There will be hourly buses that will collect from Georges Quay and drop off at The K Club Park and Ride on site.

Travelling by private coach hire

  • If you are travelling via private hired coach, please follow signs for the Park and Ride where a free shuttle bus transfer will be provided.

Travelling by Taxi

  • All those travelling by to The K Club by are to follow signs for the Park and Ride as no taxi will be permitted on site at the K Club. A free shuttle bus transfer will be provided.

Our travel tips:

  • Allow plenty of time for your journey
  • Do not rely on SatNav and do follow the route for the Park and Ride
  • No Public Parking will be available on site
  • An increase in traffic volume is to be expected in and around both Clane and Straffan.
  • Travel restrictions will apply to the village of Straffan each morning between 7am and 11:30am. Commuters through Straffan on Thursday and Friday morning are requested to use an alternative route
  • To assist with the flow of local traffic through Straffan, pass holders are requested to have their travel passes for the event clearly on display.

Traffic Management Plan

From the M4 Westbound:

  • Traffic travelling from Dublin will use the M4 Westbound
  • Traffic will be directed off at Junction 8 - Kilcock using AA signage and VMS
  • First exit onto the R407 for Clane. Second exit at the roundabout following the R407 for Clane
  • At Baltracey Cross take a left onto L1010
  • Left again at Ladychapel Cross onto the R408
  • Travel onwards for parking.

From the M4 Eastbound:

  • Traffic travelling Eastbound will use the M4 East
  • Traffic will be directed off at Junction 8 - Kilcock using AA signage and VMS.
  • Fourth exit onto the R407 for Clane. Second exit at the roundabout following the R407 for Clane
  • At Baltracey Cross take a left onto L1010
  • Left again at Ladychapel Cross onto the R408
  • Travel onwards for parking

From the M7 travelling Eastbound

  • Traffic travelling eastbound on the M7 will be directed off at Junction 9a, on to the Sallins bypass
  • Take the first exit following the Sallins bypass
  • Left (first exit) on the roundabout to R407 for Clane
  • In Clane, take the third exit onto the Clane Relief Road
  • Straight on the roundabout staying on Clane Relief Road
  • Second exit onto R403 for Celbridge/Straffan
  • Left (first exit) on the Barberstown Roundabout onto R406 for Maynooth
  • Go left at Taghadoe Cross on L5037 and right onto L5032.
  • Across the R408 continuing the L5032 to parking.

From the M7 Travelling Westbound

  • Traffic travelling eastbound on the M7 will be directed off at Junction 9a, on to the Sallins bypass
  • Take the first exit following the Sallins bypass
  • Left (first exit) on the roundabout to R407 for Clane
  • In Clane, at the roundabout take the third exit onto the Clane Relief Road
  • Straight on the next roundabout staying on Clane Relief Road
  • Take the second exit onto the R403 for Celbridge/Straffan
  • Left (first exit) on the Barberstown Roundabout onto the R406 for Maynooth
  • Left at Taghadoe Cross on L5037 and then take a right onto the L5032
  • Across the R408 continuing the L5032 towards the parking.
