International Band Championships in Limerick City on the 19/3/23

A large crowd is expected in Limerick City on Sunday, 19th. Mach 2023 for the International Band Championships which commences at the junction of Harstonge St and The Crescent at 11.45am.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey and expect diversions and delays around Limerick City due to road closures for the parade.

No Parking

  • Parking on parade route is prohibited from 4am to 4pm and cars will be towed away.
  • Parking prohibited on: Barrington St, Harstonge Street Upr, The Crescent, Mallow Street, O’Connell Street, Glentworth Street, Henry Street, Liddy Street, Arthurs Quay, Francis Street

Bridges

  • Shannon Bridge and Thomond Bridge will remain open at all times.
  • Sarsfield Bridge will be closed both inbound and outbound from 11am to 4pm. 

Road/Street Closures

  • Barrington Street, Pery Square, Catherine Place and Harstonge St Upper will be closed from 8am to 3pm
  • The following streets will close from 11am to 4pm:

The Crescent, O’Connell St, Henry St from Lwr Mallow St junction to Sarsfield St, Mallow St Upper & Lower, Catherine St, Bishops Quay, Harveys Quay, Honan Quay, Arthurs Quay, Charlottes Quay, Cecil St, Roches St, William St, Patrick St, Ennis Road from Union Cross to Sarsfield Bridge

Local & National Bus Services

There will be disruption to local and national bus service routes for the duration of the parade and customers should contact the relevant service provider for further information.

Crime Prevention Advice

An Garda Síochána would like all patrons travelling to the parades to have a safe trip so the here are a few tips for those travelling to the parade:

  • Don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle and if you must, keep them out of view.  This should be done before you get to your destination. 
  • There will be large crowds at the parades so parents should exercise caution and be aware of their child’s whereabouts at all times.  

Patrons are also reminded that parking of cars on any green areas in the City, is NOT PERMITTED and there is signage in these areas. Offending Drivers are liable to have their cars ticketed or towed.

Do not park illegally - your actions may have consequences for Emergency Vehicle Access or cause damage to the local amenity.
