GREAT LIMERICK RUN - Sunday, 5/5/19

The Great Limerick run takes place on Sunday 5th May with over 10,000 participants expected to take part in the race. Details of road closures and start times:

Start Times

Marathon - 9am

Half Marathon - 10:30am

6 mile begins - 12:30pm

TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS

Between 8.30am & 2pm there will be a number of road closures & diversions

ROAD CLOSURES

  • No traffic permitted from Edward Street and Careys Road onto Boherbuoy from 8.30am to 2pm.  Traffic will be diverted at the junction of Careys Road / Hyde Road and Edward Street /St Joseph Street.
  • Access to Colbert Train & Bus Station will be via Sexton Street onto Parnell Street from 8.30am to 2pm
  • No traffic permitted on Edward Street from 9.30am to 2pm.  Traffic will be diverted at the junction of Careys Road /Hyde Road, Maher Avenue and Prospect Hill / Byrne Avenue. 
  • A one-way system will operate in Raheen/Dooradoyle from 9.30am to 2pm.

                 * Entry to Churchill Meadows will be via Ballycummin Road.

                 * Entry to Mulcair Road will be via St. Nessan’s Road or Ballycummins Road. No entry to Mulcair Road at Huntsfield roundabout.

                 * Traffic will not be permitted to travel along the link road to the motorway from Dooradoyle Road.  Entry to the motorway will be via Fr. Russell Road or Exit 3 Raheen.

                  * All traffic from estates on Dooradoyle Road will be diverted onto Churchill Meadows.  No access to Dooradoyle Road or motorway.

  • All residents of Ballinacurra Gardens, Oakview Drive, Greenfields and Roundwood Estate will enter/exit via Ballinacuura Road (Powers’ Insurance)
  • Traffic on Childers Road wishing to go to Raheen/Dooradoyle will do so via John Carew Park link road and M20 motorway to exit 3, Raheen.

                   * Traffic travelling along Childers Road from Rathbane will be diverted at Hyde Avenue.

                   * Traffic travelling along Hyde Road will not be permitted to turn right onto Childers Road at Hyde Ave

                   * Traffic will be permitted to travel on Childers Road from Ballincuura Road.

  • No traffic permitted on Childers Road between junctions of Ballinacurra Road and junction Hyde Avenue between 9.30am and 2pm. 
  • Between 9.30am and 2pm inbound traffic from Raheen/Dooradoyle to City Centre will be diverted at junction of Ballinacurra Road / South Circular Road (McDonnells Cross).  Access to city centre will be via South Circular Road. No traffic permitted inbound on O’Connell Avenue. 
  • Outbound traffic from Henry Street and South Circular Road will be permitted onto O’Connell Avenue at junction with Wolfe Tone Street /Gerard Street.

Between 9.30am and 2pm only local traffic to estates off Dooradoyle Road as far as Huntsfield will permitted on Dooradoyle Road from Ballykeeffe roundabout.  Access to estates in Raheen will be via St. Nessan’s Road
