Gardaí Launch Halloween Safety Video for Children (9/10/20)

Assistant Commissioner Paula Hilman, Roads Policing and Community Engagement Bureau, alongside Ms. Eilish Hardiman, CEO of the Children’s Hospital Group and Chief Fire Officer Dennis Keeley, teamed up to officially launch a Halloween Safety video for children.

The key message in this video is ‘let’s all work together to have a safe and fun Halloween’.

An Garda Síochána at this time of year deliver the Garda Schools Programme by visiting schools promoting the important Halloween Safety Message. This year, however, due to Covid restrictions to ensure the message is delivered An Garda Síochána in partnership with Dublin Fire Brigade and Temple Street Children’s Hospital have developed a video for children which can be played by their teachers in their classroom or parents/guardians at home.

This video informs children of the laws in relation fireworks as well as fire safety advice. The long term effects of injuries from fireworks are discussed by Dr. Nuala Quinn, Temple Street Hospital and the stresses experienced for animals are addressed by the Garda dog unit.
