‘Garda Tour De Force’ consists of members of An Garda Síochána and friends who cycle annually to raise funds to aid Irish charities and have been cycling since 1991 in aid of various charities. Charities that have benefited from the endeavours of ‘Garda Tour De Force’ are: Crumlin Children’s Hospital, ‘Debra Ireland’, ‘Aware’, ‘The Irish Heart Foundation’, ‘Canteen’, ‘The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland’, ‘Cystic Fibrosis Ireland’, ‘Marie Keating Foundation’,’ Laura Lynn’, ‘Age Action’, ‘St. John of Gods (Re Nua)’, ‘Trust’, which cares for the homeless in Dublin’s inner city and ‘Pieta House’.

This year the funds raised will be donated to Down Syndrome Ireland.

‘Garda Tour De Force’ will be cycling 500 Kilometres through Alsace in France from Basel to Strasbourg from the 6th September to the 12th September 2018 with the assistance of our counterparts in the French Police. Our Launch this year will take place at 12 noon on 15/8/18, at the residence of the French Ambassador, at 53, Ailesbury Road, D.4. This will be hosted by Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Lionel Paradisi-Couloua.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ambassador Stéphane Crouzat said: “The Embassy of France in Ireland has always maintained an excellent working relationship with An Garda Siochana and has always benefitted from their expertise during public events such as Bastille Day or this year’s screening of the World Cup Final at the Residence de France. As such, we are delighted to support this year’s Garda Tour de Force as they will cycle through Alsace in order to raise funds in support of Down Syndrome Ireland.”

Our main sponsors this year are: Fleet Plan, Copper Face Jacks, Blooms Hotel, Oliver St. John Gogarty’s, FBD Insurance, Fitzwilliam Hotel, Dunne’s Stores, ‘Teamwork.com’, Hugh Farrington, Euro Cycles, Irish Independent Newspapers and The Irish Sun. We would like to thank them for their kind support and generous donations to this worthy cause.
