Cork City Marathon Traffic Management – Sunday, 4th June 2023

To allow for this Sunday’s Cork City Marathon, Gardaí have put in place an extensive plan to ensure all those coming through the city are safe.

Road Closures

Road closures across the city will commence at 5am on Sunday morning with the race due to begin on Patrick’s Street at 8:15am. They are expected to be lifted by 6pm.

The marathon route 26.2 miles (42km) will be closed to traffic until late afternoon
The Jack Lynch Tunnel and South City Link will remain open all day
Traffic restrictions will be extensive across the city and heavy delays are to be expected
Motorists are asked to avoid all areas if possible
Please drive only when essential and then with extreme care and slowly where restrictions are in place
Gardaí and race stewards will be on hand to assist residents affected along the route with access to and from their homes.

Public Transport

Kent Station: During the hours of 7:30am to 10:30am public will have to walk from Anglesea Street or Summerhill North Junction with the Lower Glanmire Road to access the train station.

Cork Airport: In order to access the airport from the Northside we advise using either the Jack Lynch Tunnel or Blarney to Anglers Rest Route to the Kinsale Road Roundabout.

Bus Station: There will be no access to the bus station by car between 8am and 11am. From 11am onwards, traffic will have limited access due to the closure of Patrick’s Street. To get to the City Link Road please travel via Patrick's Bridge and MacCurtain Street.

Parking

Parking is available in all city centre car parks
Black Ash Park and Ride will be in operation from 6:30am to 8:30pm
