An Garda Síochána - Olympic Homecoming for Team Ireland 12th August, 2024.

An Garda Síochána along with a number of external agencies plans to welcome home Team Ireland from Paris 2024 Olympics to Dublin City on Monday 12th August, 2024.

The homecoming celebrations for Team Ireland will be held to honour the athletes and their achievements. The event will take place outside the GPO on O’ Connell Street, Dublin 1.

This is a fully free event with no ticketing required.

The following traffic and travel plans will be in place from 10.30am this morning.

  • A road closure on O'Connell Street from 10:30am to 17:30pm will be in operation today.
  • A single lane will remain open on O'Connell Street from 5:00am to 10:30am and from 17:30pm to 22:30pm.
  • The LUAS Green line will be closed from 09:20, until approximately 22:00, there will be no trams running between Dominick and St. Stephen’s Green Luas Stops. During this time, trams will run between Broombridge and Dominick, and between St. Stephen’s Green and Brides Glen only. The full Green Line will reopen from 22:00 approx. 
  • The LUAS Red line will be closed between Smithfield and Connolly/ the Point Luas Stops. During this time, trams will run between Tallaght / Saggart and Smithfield only. The full Red Line will reopen from 22:00 approx. 

  • Trams will run every 10 minutes during this time and Luas tickets will be valid on Dublin Bus for the duration.

The following traffic diversions will be in place in Dublin City centre today:

  • Northbound Traffic: Diverted onto Eden Quay - Gardiner Street Lower - Parnell Street
  • Southbound Traffic: Diverted off O’Connell Street onto Cathal Brugha Street. Option to turn onto Marlborough Street or Gardiner Street Lower and onto Eden Quay.
  • Access to the Arnott’s car park is limited during today's event.
  • Gardaí will be on duty in Dublin city centre today during the event to assist and direct all attendees to the Team Ireland Homecoming Event.
