Limerick City St. Patrick's Bank Holiday Weekend, 13th March 2025

Gardaí in Limerick City will have an extensive policing plan in place this upcoming Sunday and Monday for both the International Bands and St. Patrick's Day Parades.

The St. Patrick's Day Parade will commence on O'Connell Avenue at 12pm on Monday, 17th of March 2025. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey and expect diversions and delays around Limerick City due to road closures for the parade.

We wish to advise motorists of the following:

No Parking:

  • Parking on the parade route is prohibited from 4am to 4pm and cars will be towed away
  • Parking prohibited on: O’Connell Avenue, The Crescent, O’Connell Street, Glentworth Street, Henry Street, Liddy Street, Arthurs Quay, Francis Street, Bridge Street Bridges.

Bridges:

  • Shannon Bridge and Thomond Bridge will remain open at all times
  • Sarsfield Bridge will be closed both inbound and outbound from 11am to 4pm.

Road/Street Closures:

  • O’Connell Avenue from Punches Cross to Wolfe Tone Street will be closed from 8am to 3pm.

We would like all patrons travelling to the parades to have a safe trip so the here are a few tips for those travelling to the parade:

  • Don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle and if you must, keep them out of view. This should be done before you get to your destination.
  • There will be large crowds at the parades so parents should exercise caution and be aware of their child’s whereabouts at all times.
  • Patrons are also reminded that parking of cars on any green areas in the City, is not permitted and there is signage in these areas. Offending drivers are liable to have their cars ticketed or towed.
  • Do not park illegally - your actions may have consequences for Emergency Vehicle Access or cause damage to the local amenity.
