Sexual crime & child abuse

Sexual Crime Management Unit (SCMU) 

The role of the Sexual Crime Management Unit includes the following: 

  • Evaluating and monitoring, in conjunction with the investigating member and senior management in local stations, a number of investigations each year of clerical child abuse, child neglect and other selected sexual offences. This is designed to ensure that such investigations are receiving the appropriate attention and being brought to a prompt conclusion in accordance with best practice.
