Key Priorities include:

- - Proactively anticipating and addressing crime, including new and emerging crime trends, utilising effective information-led policing approaches
- - Identify, engage and assist those at higher risk of violence or crime, increasing confidence in reporting
- - Cohesive intelligence collection, analysis and sharing capabilities to effectively and efficiently identify and react to threats
An Garda Síochána has today published its Strategy Statement (2022-24) and Policing Plan 2022 having been laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas earlier this morning.
This strategy was derived following an extensive consultation processes and engagement with diverse communities, Government, civil society, Garda personnel and international counterparts in policing.
The recommendations detailed in the Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland report, A Policing Service For Our Future (APSFF) are reflected in many of the strategic objectives set out in both documents.
Commenting on the publications, Commissioner Drew Harris said, “This year marks the centenary of An Garda Síochána and this important period in our history reminds us of the values on which our police service was founded: honesty, empathy, accountability, respect and professionalism.
“Keeping people safe and protecting societies most vulnerable remains our central mission and despite challenges, we will never lose sight of our personal connection shaped by all those we serve.
“It is not always possible to predict the future issues that may arise in policing or the direction that criminality will take but we can be prepared, and continue to be innovative and adapt our existing structures to appropriately respond.
“As you can see in today’s publication, the An Garda Síochána Strategy Statement (2022-24) will bridge one of the most encompassing and transformative changes in the history of our service, and we are determined to see that realised.
Commissioner Harris added, “The trust built between the community and An Garda Síochána is at the heart of the service we provide. This was a guiding principle for Gardaí during the pandemic.
“As is set-out in the Policing Plan published today, our focus to-date in 2022 has been on community policing and on preventing and detecting crime. While this plan is just the first of three annual plans that will give effect to An Garda Síochána Strategy Statement 2022-2024, we will continue to proactively engage with vulnerable and minority communities to better understand their needs.”
