The Publication Scheme

An Garda Síochána is committed to delivering an open and transparent service and it is our intention to publish information in a proactive manner in our Publication Scheme that the public may have an interest in viewing

Under Section 8 of the Freedom of Information Act, 2014 FOI bodies must routinely publish as much information as possible in keeping with the principles of openness, transparency and accountability, provided that such publication is not prohibited by law or considered an exempt record under the Act.

Under Part 1 (n) of Schedule 1 of the Act, An Garda Síochána is listed as a partially included agency “in so far as it relates to administrative records relating to human resources or finance or procurement matters”. Therefore only Freedom of Information requests concerning these areas are considered under the Act. However, the Garda Website provides additional information in relation to services provided to the public outside these areas.
