As part of Operation Stratus and ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Louth/Cavan/Monaghan division, Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a residential property in Drogheda, Co. Louth on Tuesday afternoon, 4th March 2025.
In the course of the search, a semi-automatic firearm and 10 rounds of ammunition were discovered and seized by Gardaí.
A small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia were also seized at the property.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene for an offence contrary to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 and conveyed to a Garda Station in the North Western Region, where he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
The firearm has been forwarded for a technical examination by the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau.
Investigations are ongoing.
