Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on the N5 Castlebar to Turlough road in Co. Mayo on the 29th December 2024.
The collision occurred at approximately 4pm and involved a car and a van.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a man aged in his 90s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. He has since passed away from these injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
An examination of the scene was conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the N5 at the above time, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
