Operation Tara – Arrests and cannabis plants and herb worth €88,000 seized, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, 17th September 2024

As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and distribution of drugs, Gardaí in Co. Monaghan have arrested a man and a woman and seized suspected cannabis plants and dried herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €88,000 during a search of a premises on Tuesday, 17th September 2024.

During the course of the search of a residence under warrant in Castleblayney, a growhouse was discovered containing 50 cannabis plants, with a street value of €42,000, as well as €46,000 worth of dried cannabis herb and €1,000 worth of MDMA (all subject to analysis)

The operation was carried out by local Gardaí, assisted by the members from Community Engagement Monaghan, Crime Unit Monaghan and Divisional Drugs Unit. 

The drugs seized will now undergo further analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

The man and woman (both aged in their 30s) arrested in connection with the investigation are detained at a Garda station in the Co. Monaghan area pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
