Gardaí have arrested a man and seized a firearm in Mallow, Cork during the early hours of Thursday, 12th September 2024.
At approximately 1.10am, Gardaí operating a checkpoint stopped a vehicle. A firearm (shot gun) and ammunition was located and seized.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the Cork Division.
the operation involved the Mallow Detective Unit, Mallow Drugs Unit and Mallow Roads Policing Unit.
The seized items will be forwarded to The Garda Ballistics Unit for further analysis
