In the first 10 hours of ‘National Slow Down Day’, An Garda Síochána detected 481 drivers travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit. Of those detections, 285 drivers were intercepted by Gardaí. Examples of high speeds include: • 76km/h in a 50km/h zone on the R752 Ballydowling Glenealy Wicklow • 72km/h in a 60km/h zone on the L1331 Lowpark Charlestown Mayo • 105km/h in a 80km/h zone on the R148 Pitchfordstown Kilcock Kildare • 121km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N71 Ballinvrinsig Waterfall Cork

An Garda Síochána would like to thank drivers for their compliance during the first 10 hours of ‘National Slow Down Day’, making Irish roads safer for all road users.
