On the evening of Monday, April 29th, 2024, Gardaí from Wicklow responded to reports of a large group of individuals gathered outside a vacant premises undergoing works in Aughrim, County Wicklow.
Workers contracted to carry out lawful employment on the site were allegedly subjected to abuse by individuals present. Gardaí attended the scene and were also subjected to abuse.
As part of a criminal investigation into the circumstances of the incident, a man aged in his 30s was arrested under the Criminal Justice Public Order Act, 1994, this morning, Thursday, May 2nd, 2024.
He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in County Wicklow.
Investigations are ongoing.
