Gardaí have seized a suspected imitation firearm and arrested a man further to an incident which occurred at Preston Street, Dublin 1, today, Thursday 23rd May 2024, at approximately 5.30pm.
Gardaí were alerted to reports of a male in possession of a firearm. Unarmed members of the North Central Divisional Drug Unit attended the scene and disarmed the male.
Gardaí have arrested a man (aged in his 20’s) in connection with the incident.
The firearm will be sent for further technical examination.
The arrested man is currently detained, pursuant to section Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda station in the Dublin area.
Investigations are ongoing.
