Fatal Road Traffic Collision, Dame Street, Dublin 2, 18th May 2024

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on Dame Street, Dublin 2 this morning, Saturday 18th May 2024 at approximately 5.25am.

The collision involved a car and a cyclist. The cyclist, a male aged in his 70s, was seriously injured during the collision. He was taken to St. James' Hospital where he has since passed away.

The driver of the car is currently receiving medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Dame Street was closed this morning to facilitate a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road has since reopened.

Gardaí in Pearse Street are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users or pedestrians who were in the vicinity of Dame Street this morning between 5.00am and 5.45am, and who may also have camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
