Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the N17 at Barnacarroll, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, yesterday evening, Saturday 30th March 2024.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:20pm and involved a car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a male aged in his teens, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.
No other injuries have been reported.
The road is currently closed for examination by forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and were travelling on the N17 between Claremorris and Knock yesterday evening between 8:45pm and 9:30pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
