On Saturday 2nd March 2024, as a result of intelligence led investigations targeting firearm trafficking, officers attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Emergency Response Unit intercepted a vehicle shortly after 10am this morning, in the Kildare area.
During the course of the search of this vehicle , one (1) M1911 Handgun, one (1) G3 Rifle and 40 rounds of ammunition were seized. Three (3) males aged 19, 20, 21 years were arrested in relation to possession of firearms and are currently detained, pursuant to the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939/98, at Garda Stations in Co. Kildare.
Investigations are ongoing.
