On Thursday, March 7th, 2024, at approximately 9:40 am, Gardaí from Anglesea Street responded to a report of an assault on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork City. A woman in her 30s sustained injuries during the incident and was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. (Her injuries are described as non-life threatening.)
As part of the ongoing investigation, a male in his 20s was apprehended yesterday afternoon, Friday, March 8th in Cork City. He was taken into custody at a Garda Station in the Cork City area under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Following questioning, he was subsequently charged and is due to appear before a sitting of Cork District Court this afternoon at 3pm, Saturday, March 9th, 2024.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
