Gardaí are continuing to investigate an assault which occurred on O’Connell Street and Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1 in the early hours of Sunday 23rd June 2024.
Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested in connection with this incident. One of the men (20s) has been charged and will appear before Court 1 of the CCJ this morning, Monday 24th June 2024. The second man (30s) has been released from custody.
Investigations are ongoing and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
The injured party, a man aged in his 40s, remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Gardaí are looking to speak with any individuals who were in the Cathal Brugha Street area, near the Living Room Bar, between 12:40am and 1:00am and any individuals who were on O’Connell Street Upper near the Spar Shop / Funland/ Tourism Office, opposite the Spire, between 12:40am and 1:00am Sunday morning.
Anyone who has camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
