Yesterday (Thursday 27th June 2024), as part of a joint intelligence led operation conducted by Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organized Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Revenue's Customs Service, approximately €1,250,000 of cannabis was seized by Revenue Officers in Co. Kildare.
The operation was conducted yesterday afternoon in the Athy area. Gardaí located a further €12,000 of suspected cocaine in a follow-up search.
Two males, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested by Gardaí and they are currently being detained at a Garda Station in Co. Kildare under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
Investigations are ongoing.
