Witness Appeal - Serious Road Traffic Collision – Ballymascanlan, Co. Louth, 9th July 2024

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry, which occurred on the R173 Dundalk to Carlingford road, Ballymascanlan, Co. Louth today, Tuesday 9th July 2024, at approximately 12.10pm.

The female driver of the car (aged in her 50’s) was conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for treatment of serious injuries.

The male driver of the lorry (40’s) was conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for medical examination.

No other injuries were reported at the time.

The road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling on the R173 Dundalk to Carlingford road, Ballymascanlan, Co. Louth, today, Tuesday 9th July 2024, between 11.30am and 12.30pm, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
