Witness Appeal - Aggravated Burglary, Main Street Kilbeggan, 23rd of January 2024

Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred at a domestic residence on Main Street, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 23rd January 2024.

The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after 1am.  A male, aged in his 80s, was assaulted and a sum of cash was taken during the course of this incident. The injured party received medical treatment at Tullamore hospital but has since been discharged.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by Gardaí and investigations are currently ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident to come forward.

In particular Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Main Street area of Kilbeggan between midnight and 3am this morning and saw anything which may have drawn their attention. Any road users who may have video camera footage (including dash-cam) from this area at this time, are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
