Update 2 - Fatal Road Traffic Collision, County Carlow, Wednesday 31st January 2024

Gardaí are continuing to investigate a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 11:30pm on Wednesday 31st January 2024 on the N80 at Leagh on the Wexford Road County Carlow.

Garda Family Liaison Officers have been appointed and at this time are providing ongoing support and information to the families.

An incident room has been established at Carlow Garda Station.

Three occupants of the car, two men in their 20s and a woman in late teens were fatally injured following the collision. Their post-mortems will take place tomorrow Saturday, 3rd February 2024 in Waterford Regional Hospital.

A passenger in the car, a man in his 20s, was transferred from St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny to the Mater Hospital in Dublin and is continuing to receive medical treatment at with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N80 at Leagh or surrounding area between 11:15pm and midnight are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
