Operation Tara - €185,000 Drugs Seized and Two Arrests, Douglas, Cork, 21st December 2024

Gardaí in Cork have seized a combined €185,000 of ecstacy and cocaine (pending analysis) and arrested two individuals following a search conducted in Douglas, Cork yesterday afternoon, Saturday 21st December 2024.

As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Douglas at approximately 4:00pm. 15,000 ecstacy tablets, with an estimated street value of €150,000 and half a kilogramme of cocaine, with an estimated street value of €35,000 were discovered and seized.

A male in his 20s was arrested at the scene for an offence contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. He is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Cork City.

Subsequently, a female in her 30s was also arrested for an offence contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Cork County.

The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
