Man Arrested and Charged - €100,000 Drugs Seized in Tipperary, 10th December 2024

Gardaí in the Tipperary Division have arrested a man on suspicion of money laundering offences and seized approximately €100,000 cocaine and cannabis in a search on Tuesday evening, 10th December 2024.  

Gardaí stopped a vehicle on the M8 near Thurles shortly before 9:00pm on Tuesday, 10th December 2024. In the course of a search, over €27,000 in cash was discovered concealed in the vehicle. Electronic items were seized alongside a small quantity of cocaine. 

The driver of the vehicle, a male in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to Section 7 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing) Act 2010 and detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Co. Tipperary.  

In a follow-up search of a residence in Tipperary town later that evening, Gardaí seized €70,000 of suspected cocaine and €30,000 of suspected cannabis. A significant amount of drugs paraphernalia was also seized. On Wednesday 11th December 2024, investigating Gardaí seized a car in Limerick in connection with the money laundering investigation.  

The man in his 30s has been charged and is due to appear before Nenagh District Court this morning Thursday, 12th December 2024.
