Man Arrested and €840,000 Cocaine Seized, M8 at Glanmire, Cork, 18th December 2024

Gardaí have arrested a man and seized a large quantity of cocaine following the interception of a vehicle in Cork on Wednesday evening, 18th December 2024.

As part of an intelligence-led national operation, Gardaí stopped a car travelling southbound on the M8 motorway at Glanmire. Following a search of the vehicle, 12kg of suspected cocaine was discovered, with an estimated street value of approximately €840,000.

The driver, a male in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and detained at a Garda station in Cork city under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. He remains in Garda custody at this time.

The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
