Update 2: August Bank Holiday Weekend Roads Policing Operation – 3rd August 2024.

Our Road Policing operation began at 7am on Thursday morning 1st August, 2024. 

Gardaí are out detecting poor driving behaviours such as driving above the speed limit as part of a the August Bank Holiday road safety operation.

So far, almost 125,317 vehicles have been checked for speeding.   It is positive that the majority of motorists are travelling within the designated speed, however, 440 drivers have been detected and some have been especially dangerous:

- 93km/h in a 50km/h zone in R510 Dock Road, Limerick.

- 107km/h in a 60km/h zone on the N4 Drishoge, Carrick-On-Shannon, Roscommon.

- 112km/h in an 80km/h zone on the R250 Conwal, Letterkenny, Donegal.

- 186km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N24 Tibberaghny, Piltown, Kilkenny.

An Garda Síochána continue to monitor and conduct checkpoints on our roads, using our technology to detect those speeding nationwide.
