Operation Tara – Seizure of €200,000 Cannabis and Cocaine, €250,000 Cash and One Arrest, Limerick, 31st July and 1st August 2024

As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to Mayorstone Crime Unit have seized suspected cocaine and cannabis with an estimated total value of €200,000, and €250,000 cash, and arrested one man (30’s), during the course of a search operation in Limerick City, on Wednesday 31st July and Thursday 1st August 2024.

During a search under warrant at a number of residential locations in the St Mary’s Park area of Limerick City on Wednesday 31st July 2024, Gardaí seized suspected cannabis valued at approximately €100,000 and arrested one man (30’s).

In a follow up search on Thursday 1st August 2024, suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €100,000, and €250,000 cash were seized.

The searches were assisted by the Garda Armed Support Unit and the Garda Dog Unit.

The drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

The male (30’s) arrested in connection with the investigation, is currently detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda station in the Limerick area.

Investigations are ongoing.
