Witness Appeal: Serious Road Traffic Collision, M9 Southbound, Kilkenny, 11th April 2024

Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the M9 Southbound, Kilkenny. The incident occurred at approximately 7.35pm on Thursday evening, 11th April 2024.

The collision, which involved two vehicles, occurred between Junction 8 and Junction 9 Southbound.

The male driver (30s) and male passenger (30s) of one car were taken to University Hospital Waterford with serious injuries. Both men are understood to be in a critical condition.

The male driver (20s) of the second car is also receiving medical treatment for serious injuries at University Hospital Waterford.

The M9 remains closed this morning between Junction 8 (Kilkenny) and Junction 9 (Kilkenny South) Southbound. A technical examination of the scene will be conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Any person who was travelling on the M9 northbound or southbound in Kilkenny yesterday evening between 7.00pm and 8.00pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
