Operation Tara: €890,000 Cannabis Seized and Arrests, Galway, 19th April 2024

Gardaí have seized approximately €890,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and cannabis herb during a search operation in Galway city this afternoon, Friday 19th April 2024.

At approximately 11.30am, as part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search operation at a property Galway. This operation forms part of the Galway Division drugs strategy targeting persons involved in the sale and supply of drugs.

During the course of the search a large-scale cannabis cultivation operation was discovered. Cannabis plants and cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €890,000 was seized by investigating Gardaí. All drugs are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).

Two men (aged in their 20s) were arrested at the scene and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

Investigations are ongoing.
