Gardaí in Cork City are seeking the assistance of the public in relation to an incident where a male entered the River Lee on Lavitt's Quay, Cork City, in the early hours of Thursday, 12th October 2023.
The Incident occurred between 1:00am and 1.30am, east of the pedestrian footbridge, Shandon Bridge, which is at the junction of Lavitt's Quay and Cornmarket Street in Cork City.
The body of a male, aged in his early 50s, was removed from the River Lee later that day.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing.
Gardaí are now appealing for anyone with information on this incident to come forward.
Anyone who may have been travelling along Lavitt's Quay or Popes Quay and their environs on Thursday morning between 1:00am and 1.30am and has information or footage (including dashcam) is asked to contact Gardaí at the Bridewell Garda Station Cork, 021 494 3330, Anglesea Street Garda Station at 021 452 2000 or any Garda Station.
