Gardaí are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred yesterday evening, Wednesday, 25th October 2023 in Riverstown, County Sligo.
The collision occurred at approximately 8.10pm in the townland of Rusheen, Riverstown.
A male (aged in his 50s) who was travelling on an e-scooter, was fatally injured when he was struck by a van. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The male driver of the van (aged in his 30s) received minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment at Sligo University Hospital.
The L1303 road is currently closed in Rusheen pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Traffic diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.
Anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Rusheen, Riverstown yesterday evening between 7.30pm and 8.15pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
