Today, Thursday 18th of May 2023, as part of an intelligence led operation targeting persons suspected to be involved in organised crime, a joint operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) North Central Divisional Drug Unit, with personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service.
During the course of this operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 54 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1,080,000.
Gardaí arrested a male (aged in his 40s) who is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda Station in Dublin.
Investigations are continuing.
