Operation Tara: €77,000 Drugs Seized and Two Arrests, 6th March 2023

Gardaí in Kevin Street have arrested two men and seized approximately €77,000 worth of drugs following a search operation in Dublin 8 yesterday, Monday 6th March 2023.

As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Community Response Team in Kevin Street Garda Station and the Divisional Drugs Unit conducted searches in Dublin 8 yesterday.

At approximately 9am, Gardaí stopped a motorcycle on Bull Alley Street. The male driver (20s) of the motorcycle was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine and cannabis herb. He was arrested and taken to Kevin Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A follow-up search was conducted at a private residence in Dublin 8. A large quantity of drugs including suspected cocaine and cannabis herb, were located in a house and in vehicles which were parked in the vicinity of the property. The total value of drugs seized is approximately €77,000.

Three cars, three motorcycles, a quantity of cash and drug paraphernalia were also seized by investigating Gardaí for further forensic examination.

A second man (late teens) was also arrested and taken to Kevin Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Both men have since been charged and are due to appear before Dublin District Court at a later date.
