One Man Arrested and Charged in Connection with Suspected Criminal Damage by Fire Incidents in Limerick City, Saturday 1st July 2023

Gardaí investigating a number of suspected criminal damage by fire incidents in Limerick city in the early hours of Saturday 1st July 2023 have arrested and charged a man as part of these investigations.

At approximately 1am on this date, Gardaí received reports of an unoccupied building and a nearby vehicle on fire in the O'Curry Street area of Limerick city.

The fires were extinguished by local fire services with no injuries reported.

A man in his 20s was later arrested by Gardaí in connection with these incidents and detained at a Garda station in Limerick under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

This man has since been charged and is expected to appear before a special sitting of Newcastle West District Court at 12pm today, Sunday 2nd July 2023.
