An exhibition commemorating 100 years of An Garda Síochána serving the citizens of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County will be launched at the Lexicon Library, Level 3, Dún Laoghaire, tonight from 6pm to 8pm.

This exhibition gives an insight into the founding of An Garda Síochána and the development of a unique style of policing in Ireland, with particular focus on Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County. The exhibition highlights how An Garda Síochána has contributed to building a safe and peaceful society, and how its members forge strong relationships with local communities in which they work and live.
The exhibition shows the changing nature of policing roles and the evolving standards required of An Garda Síochána over the past 100 years, which manifest themselves not only in the training and development of the members of the force but also in their gender and cultural backgrounds, their uniforms and equipment.
Furthermore, the exhibition pays tribute to those members of An Garda Síochána who made outstanding efforts to keep their communities safe, some of them losing their lives in doing so. Their bravery is remembered in a Roll of Honour and through the awarding of Scott medals.
This exhibition includes police memorabilia, artefacts, information panels, photographs, and a mock crime scene.
A Garda presence will be in attendance throughout the exhibition to assist with any queries.
This exhibition has been produced by An Garda Síochána DMR (East) Centenary Committee in partnership with DLR Libraries.
