Witness Appeal - Criminal Damage by Fire Incident, Loughrea, County Galway, Wednesday, 9th February, 2022

Gardaí investigating an incident of suspected criminal damage by fire that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, 9th February, 2022, in Loughrea, County Galway, are appealing to the public for information.

At approximately 5:50am, Gardaí received reports of a fire at a residence in Tullagh Hill area of Loughrea. The fire was extinguished by local fire services. No injuries were reported, although the front of the residence was significantly damaged during this incident.

The scene was preserved for technical examination. No arrests have been made at this stage of this ongoing investigation.

Gardaí at Loughrea are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing to any persons travelling in the Tullagh Hill or Old Galway Road area of Loughrea between 5am and 6am who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make this footage available to them, or to any persons travelling in these areas who observed any activity which drew their attention, to make contact with Gardaí.
