Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred this morning Monday 14th February, 2022 on the N52 at Bunaterin, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
At approximately 10.10a.m. a two vehicle collision occurred and the male driver (early 70s) and sole occupant of the first vehicle was fatally injured. His body has been removed from the scene to Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore where a post mortem will take place in due course.
The male driver (mid 30s) of the second vehicle and sole occupant of that vehicle received nonlife threatening injuries and was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment.
The road was closed and the Forensic Collision Investigators have conducted their examination of the scene and the road has now reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at this time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
