Update: Discovery of Body, Broomfield, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. 1st December, 2022.

Gardaí continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man at a residential premises at Knockreagh Lower, Broomfield, Co. Monaghan, this morning, Thursday 1st December, 2022.

The body of the man, aged 60 years, has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a post mortem is due to take place tomorrow morning Friday 2nd December, 2022 and is being conducted by Dr. Linda Mulligan, Office of the State Pathologist. The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.

The house remains a crime scene and the examination of the scene continues by the Garda Technical Bureau.

Investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Broomfield area between 5:00am and 6:45am this morning, particularly anyone with mobile phone footage or dashcam footage, to contact Castleblayney Garda Station on 042 974 0668 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
