Gardaí attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a truck and a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 12:50pm on Friday, 9th December 2022, on the Main Street in Macroom, County Cork.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital.
No other injuries to persons was reported.
A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The Main Street in Macroom remains closed at this time, and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Main Street between 12:30pm and 1pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
