Gardaí have seized two handguns, three silencers and 105 rounds of 9mm ammunition during an intelligence led operation in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 yesterday evening, Thursday 9th September, 2021.
The search operation was conducted by Gardaí from Ronanstown Garda station, with the assistance of the Ronanstown Detective unit, following intelligence received relating to an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in Clondalkin.
A domestic premises was searched in a residential estate. During the course of the search a small amount of cannabis herb was seized along with two handguns, three silencers and 105 rounds of 9mm ammuntion.
All firearms have been sent to the Ballistics Unit for analysis.
No persons were arrested during the search and investigations ongoing.
Chief Superintendent Finbarr Murphy commentated that “this is another excellent detection and takes two lethal weapons and a cache of ammunition of our streets. It is another successful operation in our mission to disrupt and dismantle organised crime gangs and keep our communities safe. This seizure is the result of hard work and dedication by the Gardai in Ronanstown and I congratulate them on their success and the contribution that they make to the community and people of Dublin."
