The Army EOD team from Athlone attended the scene of an unexplained device in Tuam earlier today, and have now made the device safe.
They have left the scene and removed what has been deemed to be a viable explosive device from the location.
An Garda Síochána is appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Millstream Park or Weir Road in Tuam on the night of Tuesday May 11, 2021 up to 8.30am this morning, Thursday May 12, 2021 and who may have information to make contact with them at Tuam Garda Station on (093) 70840.
Anyone who has video footage, including dash cam footage in these areas, which may be of assistance is asked to also contact Tuam Garda Station.
