On Wednesday, 18th August, 2021, as part of ongoing investigations targeting persons suspected to be involved in organised crime operating in the Ballymun area, a joint intelligence led operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Ballymun Divisional Drugs Unit at Ballymun Garda Station, and Revenue Customs Service.
The operation resulted in the search of a premises under warrant in the Ballymun area. During the course of this search, approximately €80,000 of suspected heroin, approximately €64,000 of suspected cannabis herb, and approximately €150 of suspected benzodiazepine, were seized. All of the drugs seized, totalling €144,150, are subject to analysis.
40 9mm rounds of semi-automatic ammunition were also seized.
Gardaí arrested a 24 year old male at the scene and this man is currently detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Ballymun Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
