This afternoon, a 33 year old man was surrendered to members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland by members of An Garda Síochána Extradition Unit on foot of a European Arrest Warrant. The man is wanted in Northern Ireland in connection with the attempted murder of an off duty PSNI police officer and possession of explosives with intent to endanger life, the offences occurring in Eglinton, Northern Ireland, in June 2015.
Detective Superintendent Michael Mullen of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation commented ‘the extradition of this male today re enforces the strong working relationship between An Garda Síochána and the Police Service of Northern Ireland in combating cross jurisdictional crime across the island of Ireland’.
