On Thursday, 24th September, 2020, in the course of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime, an operation was undertaken by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) which involved a search being conducted at a location in Swords, County Dublin, where a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine (subject to analysis), with an estimated street sale value of €3.5 million, was located and seized.
One man, aged 33 years, was arrested and is currently detained pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at Swords Garda Station.
Speaking today, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll who heads Organised and Serious Crime said, "Participation by a number of sections within An Garda Síochána with assistance provided by Customs Revenue Service in this operation, has resulted in another significant seizure of a substance believed to be cocaine, which prevents further damage being inflicted within our communities”.
